Due to continuous rains and landslides, 10 highways across the country have been completely blocked, while 158 highways have been operated one-way. According to the road department, traffic has been stopped due to landslides and floods have cut roads at various places.

Acting Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh has given instructions to open the blocked roads immediately. He instructed to facilitate traffic by operating the roads that were blocked due to floods.

In a meeting presided over by Singh on Sunday, he said that there was a problem for the citizens when the road was blocked, and he instructed to proceed with the work to operate the road immediately. Vimarjun Adhikari, spokesperson of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, says that efforts are being made to operate the road as soon as possible.

'Efforts are being made to open the blocked roads as soon as possible, improvement work is being done on some highways, due to the rains in some places and the flow of the river has increased, the landslide removal and cleaning work is being blocked,' he said.

The flood on 14th July came from China and the road was blocked due to the river cutting the road. Currently, efforts are being made to open the blocked road using excavators and loaders. Similarly, Jamunaha-Nepalgunj-Kohalpur-Surkhet-Khulalu-Hilsa (Karnali highway) has also been blocked. According to the road department, the highway will be cleaned after the water level in the river decreases due to the increased flow of the river in Pai.

Similarly, according to the statistics of the department, Rani-Viratnagar-Itahari-Dharan-Dhankuta-Hile, Leghuwaghat-Tumlingtar Khandwari-Num-Kimathanka (Koshi highway) has also been completely blocked. According to the department, the diversion could not be restored due to the fact that the diversion was washed away in the Barun river and due to the construction of the bridge, the diversion could not be restored due to the increase in water flow.

Chatra-Moolghat-Majhitar-Amarapurdanda-Ganeshchowk (Tamor Corridor) has also been completely blocked. The Rani Bridge Ballybridge, built on the Tamor River by Remit Hydro about five years ago, was blocked due to the flooding of the incessant rains on the 6th of July. Currently, an initiative has been taken by Remit Hydro to build the bailey bridge again.

Similarly, Thori-Bhandara-Malekhu, Galchi-Trishuli-Vetravati-Mailung-Syfrubensei-Rasuwagadhi road sections have also been completely blocked. On June 24, the section of the road was blocked due to heavy floods from China. At present, the operation of cutting the river is going on by deploying the equipment.

Chhinchu-Kudu-Jajarkot-Dunai-Dho-Tinje-Marim (very corridor) has also been completely blocked. The department said that the road section was blocked due to the landslides that came from the branch road and the river.

Koilabas-Lamhi, Arjunkhola-Ghorahi-Holeri-Ghartigaon-Thwang-Lukum (Martyr's Marg) has also been completely blocked. Currently, it is raining continuously and the landslides are also happening, the cleaning work will start after the landslides stop, the department said.

Surkhet lower Dungeshwar-Satakhamba-Dullu-Pipalkot-Khulalu-Manma-Nagma-Jumla road has also been blocked. The department informed that the road was blocked due to landslides and large rocks. Efforts are being made to remove the stone, but the stone continues to fall. Due to continuous dry landslides, the road will be closed at night and the road will be opened in the afternoon.

Chhinchu-Kudu-Jajarkot-Dunai-Dho-Tinje-Marim (very corridor) is also completely blocked. After the rain stops and the river recedes, the road repair work will be resumed, the department said.
