Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Bhagwati Neupane has sought persuasion before the Legislation Management Committee of the National Assembly to reverse the provisions passed unanimously on Friday in the Federal Civil Service Bill.
Minister Neupane sought persuasion to reverse the decision made by the committee on the implementation method of making the age limit of civil servants 60 years.
In Monday's meeting of the Legislation Management Committee, Minister Neupane has reiterated the proposal that the retirement age provisions should be implemented as soon as the Civil Act begins. The committee unanimously decided that the civil servants will retire at the age of 58 in the current financial year under the provision in section 58 of the bill. It was unanimously passed by the committee that the retirement age will be 59 years from the next financial year and 60 years from the following financial year.
Minister Neupane said that the decision made by the committee should be reversed. He argued that since the average life expectancy of employees is increasing and employees are active, the provision of retirement in the bill should be implemented immediately.
'Employee's feelings should be respected . As the employees have to be encouraged to engage in national service, they have to be flexible in some things,' she said, 'This issue is from the government's side. Let the honorable people accept and accept this from the government. Accept this my persuasion Vinay .'
He said that the bill will go forward only if the government's decision is accepted, and if the government's request is not accepted, the bill cannot be moved forward. Minister Neupane said that if the parliamentary committee does not agree to reverse the decision, it will not be possible to proceed as it will have to be discussed with other ministers.
Minister Neupane's request was to reconsider the decision made on Friday.
