95-year-old Nandan Aryal, an old communist leader of farmers' movement in Bara/Rautahat, passed away on Sunday night.  He was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat on Monday.

Neta Aryal, a permanent resident of Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city-14 Baghawan in Bara, was living with his family at Lokantali in Bhaktapur.

He was living with his son after succumbing to heart and respiratory disease. He has 1 son, 2 daughters and a wife. The base area of his politics was in Kachorwa, the home village of Harihar Yadav, another leader of the Kisan movement.

After Mohan Shamsher, Matrikaprasad Koirala, who became the Prime Minister with the grace of King Tribhuvan, announced that he would ban the Communist Party without any reason on the pretext of the Singh Darbar Rebellion by KI Singh in 2008. After organizing the farmers, communist leaders including Aryal started the farmers movement from 2009 to 2013.

During the Panchayat period, he was jailed 5 times and even lived in exile for some time. At that time, Tulsi Lal Amatya was the main central leader of farmers. During the Panchayat period, farmers and agricultural workers were extorted from the state and feudal lords. Aryal started the farmers' movement under the leadership of Amatya against high interest charges and various pressures.

From the beginning, he was influenced by the left-wing ideology. From 2009 to 2013, there was a farmers' movement in many places in the Terai, when there was a monarchical system. Terai was dominated by landlords. Agricultural workers, poor, farmers were oppressed with high loan interest. The farmers, burdened by high interest and loans, did not even have the right to mohiani.

The slogan of the farmers' movement was Tamsuk Fatta, Moch Ukhado, Re Nahi Ji Kaho, Bhakari Fodo, whose land is his vessel, Mohiyani Haq, limit kayam. Thousands of farmers of this region were protesting with this demand. Along with Aryal, the leaders of Bara/Rautahat, Harihar Yadav, Haridayal Mahato, Khazanti Sah, Devnarayan Sah and other leaders had agitated under the leadership of Madhu Singh of Bara with the inspiration of Tulsilal Amatya. The center of the movement was Gadhal, Kachorwa and other places in Bara.

According to Gopal Thakur, a 60-year-old resident of Kachorwa (Simraungarh Municipality 8), chairman of the Language Commission, before the farmers' movement,  There was exploitation, caste and class pressure in the society.   They used to exploit injustice, tyranny and brutal oppression,' he said, 'against that, Kisan Sangh came forward to bring relief and liberation to that class.'

Thakur said, 'The aim of the movement was economic and social change.'
