The Nepal Police has arrested a gang of 7 people involved in the sale of human organs and kidneys. Nepal Police Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau held a press conference in Kathmandu on Sunday and informed about it.
Shyamakrishna Bhandari of Sindhupalchok, who is playing the role of Nike in illegal activities in New Delhi, India, and Sujan Bharti, who is his assistant, have been arrested from Birganj and the action under organized crime has been initiated, informed Senior Superintendent of Police Krishna Prasad Pangeni.
It was also found that the gang was illegally selling kidneys to people in Kathmandu, Nuwakot, Kavrapalanchok, Dhading, etc. by taking them to New Delhi, India and selling them illegally.
On July 30, the police arrested three people and started searching for those involved in this incident. According to the police, 5 victims have filed a complaint. Police have registered 4 cases in this incident.
The police have also informed that action has been initiated against the gang under the Organized Crime Act. Senior Superintendent of Police Pangeni also said that under the Act, those involved in human trafficking and illegal organ trafficking can be imprisoned for 10 years and fined up to 2 lakh rupees.
