In Parsa, the number of diarrhea and cholera patients has reached 712 in hospitals and health institutions of Virgunj Metropolitan Municipality and Pokhria Municipality since last one week. Among them, 517 patients have recovered and been discharged and have returned home.

195 patients are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals. According to the statistics released by the Health Office Parsa through a press release on Saturday morning, 77 new patients have recently come in contact with health institutions. Currently 33 patients are being treated in ICU, 4 in HDU and 158 in general ward.

So far, cholera infection has been confirmed in 162 people through the RDT test in Parsa. Out of the confirmed cholera, 111 people have been discharged or referred elsewhere after treatment. 62 people are still undergoing treatment in different hospitals. According to the

statement, since July 28, patients with diarrhea started appearing in Terai Hospital in Birganj. Cholera infection was confirmed in them for the first time on August 5th. Soon after, the control efforts are continuing in coordination with the local level, Federal Ministry of Health and Population, Madhes Province Health Directorate, Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, World Health Organization, UNICEF, IFRC and other agencies. Public awareness programs like radio messages, rickshaw miking and door to door campaigns have been conducted.

On the initiative of the health office on August 7, a meeting of the mayor, chief administrative officer and health workers of Birganj Metropolitan Municipality formed 22 teams for public awareness and 5 teams for data collection. RDT kits and medicines have been received from the supply management center of Madhes province and distributed to hospitals and local levels. More kits and medicines are being coordinated. Water samples have been sent to the central lab to find out the cause of the disaster.
