There has been heavy rain in Surkhet in the last 24 hours. According to the Department of Water and Meteorology, the highest rainfall has been 292.3 mm at the Khanikhola rain gauge station in Surkhet. Monsoon has become more active in Nepal since few days.

Pratibha Manandhar, a senior meteorologist of the Department's Weather Forecast Division, said that due to the active low pressure system, there was more rain in certain centers of the western region, but fragmented rain in limited areas.  According to the department, 179 decimal 3 millimeters of rain has also fallen in Panchase of the mountain. This is a very heavy rain gauge. Similarly, 146 decimal 3 mm of rain has fallen in Banke. 

Similarly, 138 mm of rain has fallen in Dang, 107 in Darchula, 105 mm in Sindhupalchok, and more than 12 stations have received between 80 and 100 mm of rain. According to the records of the department, there was between 50 and 80 mm of rain at many measuring stations. Meteorologist Manandhar said that the rain will be a little more today till afternoon and evening and it will be less tomorrow.

According to the department, the rainfall occurred in the western region due to the local system and the system coming from the Bay of Bengal in the east. 

Today, there is more monsoon influence in Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali and South West Provinces and seasonal change is happening all over the country. At present, the monsoon low pressure line is located south of Sardar place in the east and around Sardar place in the west.
