The National Independent Party has demanded that the House make a common concept regarding nationality before the Prime Minister goes on a visit to China. Speaking at today's meeting of the House of Representatives, MP Ganesh Parajuli said that no party or government can have a greater responsibility than protecting the integrity, sovereignty and geographical independence of the nation.
Before the Prime Minister went on a visit to China, he demanded a unanimous common concept from the Parliament in favor of national sovereignty and border security. "On the same basis, the Prime Minister should not only communicate politely with the heads of state of both the neighboring countries, but also have a firm, result-oriented and peaceful but diplomatically effective dialogue," he said.
He said that any agreement or activity done by other countries on the territory of Nepal without the direct participation and consent of Nepal is not legal and cannot be done. Such an act is not only a blow to the principle of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, but also a blow to Nepal's national self-respect, he said.
'Some time ago, the agreement between India and China to use the Lipulek route without the participation of Nepal is illegal from the point of view of international law,' he said.
He said that the people demanded a clear answer from the government on the issue of international borders and nationality.
He said that the historical fact that the western border of Nepal was determined by the Sugauli Treaty of 1816 cannot be a subject of any dispute. Kali River originates from Limpiyadhura and this river is the western border of Nepal. This document has been made indelible by history,' MP Parajuli said.
History, various facts and geography will prove that Nepal has its territory up to Limpiyadhura, he said.
