What you should know

One of the 15 murres gifted by India 21 months ago has died. Murra in National Animal Breeding Office, Pokhara died on July 30 due to frog disease.

The information officer of the office Dr. Murra was sick since July 17th and died on July 30th at 6 pm during treatment. Mahendra Malla said. According to him, this Murra was named 'Rohit'.

Frog disease is a dangerous contagious disease seen in animals. This disease is caused by bacteria called Pasteurella multocida. This disease is transmitted to healthy animals through the bite of food, water, flies, mosquitoes, insects, opium etc.

In animals with frog disease, problems such as high fever, throat and heart sounds, gurgling noises from the throat, and red eyes are seen. After the infection reaches the lungs, the animal dies in three days at most.

The Acting Head of the Office, Vishwanath Gautam, said that since the animals were kept in a separate quarantine after the symptoms appeared, the disease did not occur in other animals. According to him, the death of this snake will damage sperm production. It is brought to produce semen. We collected semen from it," he said. "Since we have 3,000 doses of semen stock, there is no problem in its offspring production. But regular sperm production was damaged.'

7 of the 15 Murras given by India were brought to Pokhara in November 080. 5 calves and 3 were sent to the National Animal Breeding office at Banke. Semen collection was started last year from two of those brought to Pokhara. Murra, who died on July 30, is one of those two whose semen was collected.

Gautam said that the remaining five murras are in the training stage for sperm production. He said that after the post-mortem of the dead Rango, the funeral (buried) was done.  Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari informed about the death of snakes in the recent cabinet meeting.
