The delegation led by the president of the federation, Nirmala Sharma, submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Prithvisubba Gurung on Wednesday and warned that they will go on strike if the blocked registration and renewal work is not started.
The Federation of Nepalese Journalists has given the government a 72-hour ultimatum to open the registration and renewal of online media immediately.
The delegation led by the president of the Federation, Nirmala Sharma, gave an ultimatum while submitting a memorandum to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Prithvisubba Gurung on Wednesday. In a memorandum signed by the general secretary of the federation, Ram Prasad Dahal, it has been warned that the federation will go on strike if the blocked registration and renewal work is not started. While understanding the
memorandum, Minister Gurung assured that a temporary arrangement will be made to remove the discomfort caused to the online media and new rules will be brought immediately. Secretary of the Ministry Radhika Aryal also informed that initiatives will be taken to facilitate the registration and renewal process.
After the Act, 2048 relating to Printing Houses and Publications was amended and provision was made for the registration and renewal of online media through the local administration, the registration, renewal and operation of online media has been disrupted across the country.
Central members including Umid Bagchand, secretary Soni Sharma, Prakash Dhaulakoti and other central members of the federation were present to submit the memorandum.
