Shri Krishna Janmashtami festival is being celebrated today all over the country by worshiping Lord Shri Krishna.

Lord Krishna, the pioneer of Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga, was born on the midnight of Bhadrakrishna Ashtami in Dwapara Yuga, so today is called 'Shri Krishna Janmashtami' and the night is called 'Mohratri'. On this day, there is a tradition of worshiping Lord Krishna, preaching, singing bhajankirtan in Krishna temples across the country, especially women and men 'fasting' and staying awake all night. 

Sri Krishna, who was born as the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu to protect all human beings from injustice, tyranny and demonic tendencies, inspired the human community to do good deeds by standing for the truth throughout his life. 'Shrimad Bhagavad Gita', uttered by Shri Krishna himself while giving a sermon to Arjuna, one of the Pandavas involved in the battle with the Kauravas in Kurukshetra, is considered a holy book. This book, also known as Gita in short, is believed to have been translated into the most languages in the world. 

Srikrishna, who has shown his strange pastimes since childhood  It is mentioned in the mythological texts that he destroyed demonic tendencies like Kansha, Jarasandha and Shisupala.

On this occasion, a fair is held today at the famous Krishna temple in Mangalbazar, Patan. Likewise, there is a crowd of devotees at Navatandham in Kageshwari Manohara Municipality, located in the northeastern part of the capital. The Krishna temple in the office of Nepal International Shri Krishna Consciousness Association (ISKCON) in Budhanilkanth located in the northern part is also crowded with devotees.  There is a crowd of devotees in Sri Krishna temple outside the capital.
