Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that all social networks operating in Nepal should come under the legal framework. At the inaugural session of 'Digital Nepal Conclave 2025' organized by ICT Foundation today, Prime Minister Oli said that all social networks should be registered, pay taxes and fulfill other obligations according to the prevailing laws of Nepal.

Prime Minister Oli told the social media  He has already instructed the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology to bring it into legal scope.

'The government of Nepal should know all kinds of transactions related to information technology in Nepal. All the work that is conducted in Nepal through social media must fulfill the obligations and pay taxes according to the laws of Nepal,' Prime Minister Oli said, 'Whatever needs to be done for the development of the information technology sector, the government does. The government is for the people.

Prime Minister Oli recalled that during his trip to Pushpalal Madhyapahadi, he was happy to learn that old women from the remote village of Rukum were also going to view and download Facebook photos, saying that the rapidly developed information technology is dragging people away.

He emphasized that Nepal is very suitable for digital technology and green energy and that it should be developed and prospered by using artificial intelligence. According to his announcement, since last year, more than 150,000 SEE students have benefited from online teaching and improved their results.

Stating that the government has recently passed the AI policy and attention has been paid to how to transform and change the development related to information technology, he commented that some people are deliberately trying to spread frustration by not seeing the development. He said that now the government is clear about the use of information technology for stability, good governance and development, so the private sector will be encouraged.
