More than three dozen district presidents of the Land Problem Solution Commission have met the Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh and requested him to take initiatives to solve the problems they are facing while working. In a meeting held on Wednesday morning at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Urban Development, they informed about the problems they faced while working.
During the meeting, they requested Deputy Prime Minister Singh to take initiative to pass the land bill as there is a problem in distribution of land to landless Dalits and Sukumvasi. The Land Bill is currently in Parliament.
District President of Kathmandu Land Commission Krishnaji Khadka said that the commission's meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Singh was positive. "We have informed the Deputy Prime Minister about the lack of necessary coordination with the National Housing Company under the Ministry of Forests, National Parks, Protected Areas and Urban Development while the Commission is working," Chairman Khadka said. The chairpersons of other districts also asked the Minister of Land Reforms to take initiatives to solve the problem as there are problems due to parks, reserve areas and forests.
After listening to the vice-chairmen and district chairmen of the commission, Deputy Prime Minister Singh said that he would talk to the prime minister and the relevant ministers about the problems faced by the commission. "I am serious about the issue of logistic support, the issue of the portfolio and the necessary coordination with the Ministry of Forests and Lands," he said. Deputy Prime Minister Singh said that the government would provide the necessary support to make the work of the commission effective and suggested the commission to carry out the responsibilities in a good manner.
The government formed a land problem resolution commission on November 13 to provide land to the landless, Dalits, Sukum residents and to manage unorganized residents.
