In the last fiscal year, there were 94 incidents of violation of press freedom. Press Council Nepal has stated that there have been 94 incidents related to press freedom based on the petitions registered in the council and regular monitoring.
In the monitoring carried out from 1st July 2081 to 32nd June 2082, 94 incidents of violation of press freedom were reported. The highest number of incidents have occurred in Wagmati province with 38 incidents.
Similarly, 25 incidents have occurred in Madhes province, eight each in Sudurpaschim and Koshi, seven in Karnali, four in Gandaki, three in Lumbini and one outside the country. On the basis of gender, it has been found that 106 journalists including 96 men and 10 women were victims in the incidents that occurred during this period.
During the review period, there were four incidents of abuse of press freedom in Wagmati, three in Madhes and two in Karnali province.
