According to the preliminary study report, it has been confirmed that Dailekh has 112 billion cubic meters of natural methane gas storage. A total of 430 billion cubic meters of gas is projected to be stored in that area.
Nepal Oil Corporation has been asked to take ownership of natural methane gas extraction and commercialization found in Dailekh.
The independent employees' union under the corporation has submitted a 7-point memorandum to the executive director of the corporation, Chandika Prasad Bhatt, on Tuesday, asking him to ensure the extraction and marketing of gas from the corporation. The employees under the leadership of union president Vikas Bakhti made such a request.
"Initiatives should be taken to ensure gas extraction and marketing of Dailekh through strategic partners or subsidiary companies of the corporation under the ownership of the corporation," the memorandum says, "a committee should be formed to study the areas of methane gas usage and decide the market strategy accordingly." There is a
projected that a total of 430 billion cubic meters of gas will be stored in that area.
