To facilitate passenger movement, the pass service distributed by the airport terminal office will be closed from Tuesday.
What you should know
The 'Visitor Pass' service is going to be stopped from Tuesday as the number of relatives and family members going to transport passengers to Tribhuvan International Airport has increased and the passengers themselves are becoming a hindrance.
According to Hansraj Pandey, the general manager of the airport, this decision has been taken to prevent foreign passengers from entering the airport, getting to the check-in counter, and getting to the plane late due to the rush of visitor passes.
'The people asking for visitor passes could not be reached to reach the check-in counter, immigration check, security check . Due to such visitors, the movement of passengers has been affected, so it has been decided to close the visitor pass, said General Manager Pandey.
According to him, the airport has decided to stop this service due to the high demand for visitor passes from all over the country, including high-level employees, security agencies, and political figures.
"Sometimes it became so crowded inside the international airport that the police had to be called and ask for security", General Manager Pandey said, "We have 6,000 passengers leaving the international airport every day". But the number of visitors who deliver them has reached 1200 daily.'
Kathmandu Airport opens at 6 in the morning and operates till 1 in the night. There are around 45 to 50 international flights here daily. According to the officials of the airport terminal office, in order to manage the crowd of passengers and give priority to security, if the visitor pass system is stopped for now, it will make it easier for the passengers and the security challenge will also decrease as the crowd decreases.
Kathmandu Airport has not closed the visitor pass to take passengers to the domestic terminal. Since there is not much pressure, this facility has been maintained there . The Visitor Pass service provided to the elderly, children, physically challenged, wheelchair users, relatives of sick passengers has been maintained.
