Two youths have been arrested by the police for gang rape of a girl in Chamunda Bindrasaini municipality of Dailekh.
According to Police Inspector and Information Officer Lal Bahadur Sunar of District Police Office Dailekh, two young men from the same village were arrested after receiving a complaint that two young men of the same village injured and raped a girl who had gone to see a Tij dance on the evening of July 22.
Among those arrested are 23-year-old Govinda Bahadur Shahi and 25-year-old Khagendra Bhandari of Chamundabindrasaini. It has been revealed during the police investigation that they chased and raped a 12-year-old girl from a neighboring village. According to
inspector and information officer Sunar, Govind and Khagendra chased and raped the girl while returning home after watching Teej dance. He said, 'Other friends who went with them escaped and saved their lives and managed to tell the family about the incident.'
The police said that the girl was raped in turn after she was injured by a stone thrown by the young man and failed to escape. The young man was arrested after the relatives of the victim girl lodged a complaint with the police on Friday, according to the district police office Dailekh. The girl is being treated at District Hospital Dailekh.
