Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asked the world community to work together to reduce the speed of glacier melting.  Addressing the 'side event' related to the impact of climate change on landlocked developing nations due to the melting of glaciers, Prime Minister Oli said that our Himalayas can be saved with concrete actions.

'Don't let the voices of the mountains die under the melting ice. Nepal is ready to work together, lead and share for the protection of Himalayas. May our steps inspire the world community to work for climate justice,' Prime Minister Oli said, 'The Himalayas are not only the source of life and livelihood of billions of people, it is our identity, national pride, our present and future. It is also a means of recharging the Himalayas and the oceans into each other.'

Prime Minister Oli's appeal to the world community to work together to stop the melting of glaciers Prime Minister Oli made it clear that efforts to prevent the extinction of the mountains, which are the cooling centers of the earth, will only be fulfilled if the countries that emit carbon show seriousness not only because of Nepal's desire. He said that the problem of melting glaciers is not only an environmental concern for countries like Nepal, but it is a constant threat that strikes at the heart of our development, security and existence, so its protection is essential.

'Nepal has become a victim of the destruction of the flood caused by the bursting of the glacial lake. Due to the bursting of the glacial lake, there was a devastating flood at Rasuwagadhi, the border between Nepal and China, causing human and material damage. Such climatic disasters are happening frequently. Such threats may arise in the future as well,' said Prime Minister Oli, 'Due to this, risks are increasing in our agriculture, hydropower, tourism and biological diversity. These threats extend beyond our national borders. They can put our future at risk. Therefore, global partnership is necessary in this, Nepal is capable of increasing that partnership.'
