Speaker of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, has said that it is necessary to bring the languages of the tribal tribes into use through digital means.

He said this at the 'Promoting Indigenous Knowledge System' program jointly organized by the National Foundation for the Upliftment of Tribal Tribes, UNESCO Nepal and FAO Nepal on Thursday in Basantpur. He said, 'By using artificial intelligence (AI) and technology, the lost language, script, oral traditions, songs, stories, objects, medicinal knowledge of the indigenous tribes can be preserved and made known to the world. The Nepalese language of the Newar community is now on Google - this is the right use of technology.'

He also informed that this year's World Indigenous People's Day is being celebrated focusing on the language and traditional food of the indigenous community. Tribal identity can be respected by participating in such a program.

Gelje Lama Sherpa, president of the Federation of Nepalese Tribal Tribes, said that preparations are being made to celebrate the 31st World Tribal Day this time through a week-long program. He said that this opportunity is also an opportunity to convey the voice to the government and related agencies.

Chairman of Tribal Tribes Commission Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar mentioned that the tribal community has been struggling for rights for a long time. He said, '80 percent of the world's food knowledge is based on the traditional skills of tribals.'

President of the National Tribal Women's Federation, Ngimi Sherpa, said that the role of women will be great in the protection of tribal food and traditional knowledge. She emphasized that everyone should pay attention to this as tribals are being displaced from their land in the name of development.

The vice president of the National Foundation for the Upliftment of Nepalese Tribal Tribes, Resham Gurung, said that the Nepali language and the Tamang language have become official languages in Bagmati province and efforts are being made to give the same status to Magar and Gurung languages in Gandaki province.  Cultural tableaux of Newar, Tharu, Tamang, Gurung, Magar, Sunuwar, Bhujel, Majhi, Chantyal and Thami communities were presented in the

program. Similarly, Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha (Thakas) showcased Tharu dishes. In Tharu food, dishes like Ghonghi, Anadi's rice, Bakka, Gangta, Mahua wine, Dhikri, Baria, Bayar chutney, Chichhar, Khurma, and Zanko Jhol were displayed. According to Thakas President Premi Lal Chaudhary, dishes from East to West were presented. Besides, traditional snacks of the Newar community were also displayed.
