According to the provisions of the Printing House and Publication Act, 2048 made by the government through the amendment of some Nepal Acts, there is now an arrangement for online registration from the District Administration Office.
The Department of Information and Broadcasting has suspended online media registration and renewal. The department issued a notification on Tuesday and informed that the registration and renewal work has been stopped by the department.
According to the provisions of the Printing House and Publication Act, 2048 made by the government through some amendments to the Nepal Act, now there is an arrangement for online registration from the district administration office. The
department said that the registration and renewal of online media (online magazines), which was previously carried out in accordance with the Online Media Operation Guideline, 2073, has been postponed as it is necessary to comply with the new legal provisions. It is said in the
notice, 'Based on the notice published in the gazette in the above context, this department has requested for information regarding the suspension of registration and renewal of online media (online magazine) in accordance with the Online Media Operation Guideline, 2073.'
According to Section 7 (b) added to the Printing and Publishing Act, 2048, registration of online media is mandatory. According to that section, a person who wants to operate an online media should submit an application to the local authority along with the prescribed fee.
