The Butwal-Narayangadh road section, which has been blocked since Monday morning, has not been operational yet.  The section of the road blocked due to a landslide on the lower part of the East-West Highway could not be put into operation.

The highway was blocked due to landslides, mud and slippage due to continuous rains in the lower hills of Vinayi Triveni Rural Municipality-2 of Nawalparasi (East of Bardghat Susta). Superintendent of Police Yadav Dhakal of District Police Office Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta East) said that due to continuous rain, the blocked road could not be operated.

'Due to the rains along with the landslides, the highway has become slippery and the traffic has been blocked,' he said.

Due to the mud on the road in the Downing area, there has been an additional problem as the vehicles stuck in the ground cannot be pulled out  . After the road was blocked for 24 hours, hundreds of passengers and drivers are now stuck on the road. During the expansion of the Butwal-Narayangadh road section, the lower hills were cut down, so the road is blocked in this area even in normal years.
