Prime Minister Oli went there to participate in the conference on the formal invitation of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres. The conference will be held in Avaza city of Turkmenistan from 20th to 23rd July (5th to 8th August). In the
conference, Prime Minister Oli, as the chairman of the Global Coordination Bureau of Less Developed Countries, has a program to address. In addition to co-chairing a high-level round-robin meeting during the conference, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to address various other events. Nepal is currently the chairman of the LLDC group.
32 landlocked developing countries from Asia, Europe, Africa and South America will participate in the conference, the lack of direct regional access to the sea, the problems faced by landlocked countries and the benefits they can take from the world market will be discussed.
In view of the fact that the international trade of those countries is dependent on transit through other countries, additional border crossing places and long distances from major markets, burdensome transportation process and inadequate infrastructure will significantly increase the total cost of transportation and other transactions, so the conference will focus on increasing the competitiveness of landlocked developing countries. On the occasion of the
conference, Prime Minister Oli will meet with the heads of delegations from various countries and high-ranking officials of the United Nations and other international organizations. Lacking direct territorial access to the sea, landlocked developing countries face challenges in international trade, connectivity and economic development.
Likewise, it is believed that the conference will be fruitful in achieving the goals of sustainable development in the absence of direct access to significant benefits from the global market, lack of a global transportation network and difficulty in developing food infrastructure. The
conference is considered to help to solve the problems faced by the member countries by increasing investment with strategic partnership to address the challenges and assess the full potential of these countries. Likewise, the conference will play an important role in building a mutually equal and prosperous future by supporting these countries.
