Durga Prasai, the main accused in the violent protest of Chait 15, has been ordered to be released on bail by the Patan High Court. The bench of Judges Tank Prasad Gurung and Dilliratna Shrestha reversed the previous order of sending him to the district court and ordered him to be released on bail.

The information officer of the High Court, Parvati Hitan, said that he was ordered to be released on a bail of 3 lakhs for the crime against the state registered in the incident of Chait 15.

After the arson and vandalism that took place during the violent demonstration in Tinkune on March 15th, a case was registered against Prasai in the Kathmandu District Court for criminal nuisance, organized crime. The district court sent him to prison pending trial. He filed a petition in the High Court against the said order.

Similarly, Prasain has been ordered by the High Court to release 2.5 million bond or bank guarantee in a separate case of banking offences . The bench of High Court Judge Sudarshandev Bhatt and Munendra Prasad Awasthi gave the order.

7 people, including Prasai, who were ordered to be detained by the Kathmandu District Court on June 30, were sent to Dillibazar Jail. During the violent protest, Avenues Television journalist Suresh Rajak and 29-year-old Savin Maharjan of Kirtipur-4 were killed, while 20 people were injured in police firing.
