Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has directed the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police to start a serious investigation into the rape and murder case of 13-year-old girl Nirmala Pant of Bhimdatta municipality in Kanchanpur.

During the inspection of the CIB office on Sunday, the minister gave instructions to investigate the Nirmala Pant case and bring the culprits to justice. He has instructed the CIB not to leave anything behind in the investigation of the Nirmala case.

'I urge you to speed up the investigation of all the complex cases being investigated by the Bureau, including Nirmala Pant,' the Home Minister said,                                  

Expressing happiness that the CIB is achieving success in the performance of the police amid limited resources, the minister said that the ministry is serious about making the CIB resourceful. Due to the recent increase in financial crimes in the country, he informed that he has formed the Financial Crimes Investigation Division to control financial crimes.

'Due to the increased trust in the police, there is a demand for police stations from all over the country,' he said, 'comparatively more budget has been allocated in the current financial year than in the previous year to provide facilities to the police.

During that time, CIB Senior Superintendent of Police Hovindra Bogti gave a presentation on the work being done by CIB, actions, successes and challenges in performance. Senior Superintendent Bogti informed that the CIB is continuing its investigation into the Nirmala Pant case as well as other incidents. Inspector General of Police Deepak Thapa, Chief of CIB Additional Inspector General of Police Chandrakuver Khapung and working police officers of CIB participated in the program.
