It has been ordered to send Rajesh Jha 'Ahiraj', the former head of Madhesh province, to prison for preliminary investigation.

The bench of District Court Kathmandu Judge Pitambar Sharma issued the order on Wednesday.

He was arrested on July 4 for the crime of sexual abuse. He was appointed as the provincial head of Madhesh on February 7, 2077. Before becoming the head of Madhesh province, he was involved in media ventures including the publication of Madheshwani weekly newspaper.

When the controversy of the then CPN was at its height, the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's government dismissed the then state chief Tilak Periyar and appointed him as the state chief of Madhesh. Less than 6 months into his tenure, he was relieved of his post by the government led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
