It has been raining in various areas including Kathmandu since this morning. Heavy rains have been measured in some places and near heavy (moderate) rains in many places. But there is no rain in Terai region yet.
Davit Dhakal, a meteorologist from the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Water and Meteorology, informed that it is generally cloudy across the country. Dhakal said that there was light rain in the southern region as well, but not enough.
In the last 6 hours, 42 mm of rain has fallen in Machuwaghat in Dhankuta, 42.2 in Arughat in Gorkha, 44.8 in Lampatan in Kaski, 40.8 mm in Gamgarhi Srinagar in Mugu. It is close to heavy rain. Moderate rainfall of around 15 mm has occurred in Kathmandu. Gorkha has also received 41.6 mm of rain in the last 6 hours.
In the last 12 hours, there has been heavy rain in some areas of Ilam, Lamjung, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchok. In the last 24 hours, the maximum rainfall was 127.4 mm at Narpugaon in Sindhupalchok and 112.8 mm at Triveni measuring center in Dhankuta. According to the Department of Water and Meteorology, 82.8 mm of rain fell in Kathmandu and 86.2 mm in Nuwakot during that period.
It is said that the influence of Monsoon air is present across the country and the low pressure line of Monsoon is around Sardar place in the west and north of Sardar place in the east. According to the Department's Weather Forecast Division, light rain is currently occurring in many places in Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province, in few places in Koshi Province, Lumbini Province and Karnali Province and in one or two places in Madhesh Province and Sudurpaschim Province.
In the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in the Terai area of Koshi Province and the hilly areas of Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and Lumbini Province.
