Deputy Speaker Indira Rana has said that Nepal urgently needs international solidarity to ensure climate justice. Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Forum program held in Henan Province, China, on Friday, Deputy Speaker Rana, as the head of the Nepali delegation, said that Nepal, a Himalayan country that has not contributed much to global climate change, is the most affected and has to face its direct effects.

'We did not cause this crisis, but we are ready to be a part of the solution,' she said, 'Nepal, which is the most affected by climate change, urgently needs international solidarity to reduce the effects of climate change, promote green energy and ensure climate justice. In this regard, I believe that I will receive support from the world.' During the

speech, Deputy Speaker Rana drew the attention of the international world that Nepal, as a Himalayan nation, is at the forefront of the climate crisis, along with the melting of glaciers and rapid climate change, which are adversely affecting the rural and Himalayan regions, and that Nepal is in a difficult situation due to climate change.

Deputy Speaker Rana said that contemporary challenges such as climate change, inequality and regional tensions cannot be solved by any one country alone, and held the view that regional partnership platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Forum would be effective for that. Pointing out that Nepal has achieved important achievements through dialogue, political will and people's participation, which has progressed in a peaceful manner with a democratic republican governance system, she expressed the opinion that poverty alleviation and environmental protection should be given equal importance in the development process.

'Inclusive economy can be built only with sustainable, balanced and fair development,' she said.  Clarifying that Nepal prioritizes cooperation over competition, she informed that it is cooperating with neighboring countries including China in the direction of building infrastructure, expanding trade relations and strengthening relations at the people's level.  In the

program, Deputy Speaker Rana stated that the relationship between Nepal and China is based on mutual respect, cooperation, cooperation, environmental sustainability and common benefits, and committed to peace and progress along with environmental balance.
