Chairman of Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the politics of Nepal stands on the foundation of the national policy adopted by BP Koirala.

On the occasion of Koirala's 43rd Memorial Day, he said that BP's policy of reconciliation is still relevant today in an interaction on 'BP as the basis of country development and advancement of countrymen' organized jointly by BP Memorial Hospital, BP Memorial Academy and Congress Sports Department.

Chairman Deuba recalled that BP Koirala stood unwaveringly in favor of democracy by giving everything for the country and the people throughout his life. "In fact, the message of BP that the country will be independent and prosperous only through reconciliation between strong Congress and national forces is equally relevant today," said President Deuba.

He said that BP has a firm opinion that national unity, prosperity of the country and social harmony are greater than political interests. He mentioned that BP Koirala was a shining star not only in politics but also in the field of literature. He praised Koirala, a thinker and practitioner of democratic socialism, for taking Nepali literature to its peak through literature by giving independent thought, tradition and style.

BP Koirala's political and literary thinking is a guide not only for the Congress but also for building a modern Nepal. He said that BP Koirala has always been an adamant leader that a democratic system with economic equality is the inevitability of the country.

Deuba recalled that BP returned to Nepal despite the eight death cases after analyzing the weakness of nationalism while in exile in India and struggling against the then autocratic panchayat system. He says that the Nepali Congress has reached its present position due to the value and recognition established by BP Koirala's sacrifice and contribution.
