In Baglung, every year during the rainy season, floods and landslides cause loss of property. As this year also started with rainy season, the District Disaster Management Committee has been alerting the citizens by identifying the risk areas.

During this year's monsoon, 5,872 houses across the district are at risk of floods and landslides. The Disaster Management Committee has suggested to take ease while living in the slums and houses that are at risk.

Most of the settlements here are located on the banks of rivers and steep lands, so they are at risk of floods and landslides during the rainy season. Nisikhola rural municipality is most at risk in the district.

According to the committee, 2,438 houses in this municipality are at risk of floods and landslides. The least risky houses are in Jaimini municipality. According to the District Disaster Management Committee, 16 houses are at risk in Jaimini.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer Pushparaj Paudel, 1,554 houses in Baglung Municipality, 390 in Dhorpatan Municipality, 125 in Galkot Municipality, 210 in Bareng Rural Municipality, 160 in Badigad Rural Municipality, 115 in Tamankhola Rural Municipality, 144 in Tarakhola Rural Municipality and 720 in Kathekhola Rural Municipality are at risk of floods and landslides. He said that they are at risk.

He said, "It's rainy season, landslides can sweep houses and settlements that are at risk any time. It is important for all citizens to be aware. We have also urged all citizens to be aware. We have told them not to take risks. There is no option to go to a safe place when it rains. In the past, many people have lost their lives due to floods and landslides." He said that the settlement has to be moved elsewhere. He said that he will cooperate with the Central and Provincial Governments to restore the locals by building an integrated settlement.

Poonmagar informed that a 'disaster management fund' has been created for relief and rescue, saying that preparations are being made for disaster management. Most places and hundreds of houses in Nisikhola are at risk. As the limited resources of the municipality do not allow the relocation of the slums, it should cooperate with the higher level of government, he said, "Currently, work is being done to spread awareness to protect the citizens from disaster." Apart from that, we have created a fund of Rs 30 lakh for the relief and rehabilitation of those affected by the disaster, we have handed over rescue materials to all the three outposts of Nisikhola to make the rescue effective.'
