Press Council Nepal has decided to organize journalism through digital platforms including YouTube. The board meeting of the council held on Friday took this decision.
The chairman has not been appointed in the council at present. The meeting held on Friday was chaired by member Ram Prasad Dahal. The meeting discussed the issues of journalists and the press that have gone to the court, the activities of press freedom abuse by some journalists and the economic crisis seen in the press. Deepak Khanal, Senior Administrative Officer and Spokesperson of the Council informed that the meeting concluded that the Press Council will not agree to any act against freedom of the press against journalists and media contrary to the provisions of the Constitution.
Likewise, the meeting has decided to continue drawing attention to journalists through training/training/orientation, appealing to journalists and the media to follow the code of conduct and use freedom of the press. It has been decided to update the list of experts for the orientation of the journalistic code of conduct, proceed with making an action plan for the next four years according to the jurisdiction of the council, and discuss amendments to the procedures of the council, including the journalistic code of conduct and communication guidelines.
Likewise, the meeting has decided to take more initiatives to amend the Press Council (Procedure) Regulations, Financial Administration Regulations, and Press Council Staff Regulations, which have not been amended for a long time, and to make the council stronger and make public decisions institutionally through a one-door system .
Board members Kumari Nima Kafle, Keshavasaran Lamichhane, Nakul Aryal, Padmaraj Joshi, Balakrishna Adhikari, Vijayraj Adhikari, Shantram Bidari and Member Secretary Minkumar Sharma were present in the meeting on Sunday.
