'Parliament is becoming a middleman's playground due to compromise between two big parties'

Speaking in the House of Representatives, the leader of the main opposition party and Maoist chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal accused the parliament of being made a 'playground of middlemen' by collusion between the two major parties and commented that such a trend is shameful and regrettable for the country and the people.

Stating that the dreams and commitments made to the people during the drafting of the detailed peace agreement and the constitution are not compatible with today's situation, he commented that the working style of the current government has insulted all those dreams and commitments.

'Are we moving forward according to the dream seen during the peace agreement?' Questioning that, he said that corruption, anarchy and disorder are rampant, access to public services is difficult and the state is not providing necessary protection to the backward communities.

Expressing his displeasure with the role being played in the Parliament and the Parliamentary Committees, he strongly criticized the Bills, even though they were passed unanimously, but they could not move forward due to manipulation and interference when they reached the House of Representatives.

He emphasized that the government should seriously take the path of good governance, social justice and economic prosperity to strengthen democracy and warned that if serious review and tough decisions are not made, the situation may become explosive.
