Meteorologists have said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in Koshi, Wagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces today.

According to the Water and Weather Forecasting Division, there is currently the effect of monsoon air across the country and the low pressure line of monsoon is around Sardar place in the east and a little north of Sardar place in the west. The department has predicted heavy rain at one or two places in Koshi, Madhes, Wagmati, Gandaki and Karnali.

This afternoon, it will be partly to mostly cloudy across the country and in some places of hilly areas including Bagmati, Gandaki and Sudurpaschim Province  There is a chance of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning. According to the department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places of Koshi, Wagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in some parts of the high hilly and Himalayan parts of the country.

Likewise, it will be generally cloudy in hilly areas including Koshi, Madhes, Wagmati and Gandaki provinces, and it will remain partly cloudy tonight. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at some places of Koshi, Madhes, Wagmati and Gandaki provinces. There is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places of Madhes, Wagmati and Gandaki provinces. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in some parts of the high hilly and Himalayan regions of the country.

Stating that there is a risk of floods and landslides due to possible rains, the department has requested the people of those areas to be careful as there is a risk of inundation in urban and lowland areas. As the water level in large and small rivers and streams may rise, the daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, roads and air traffic around the river area may be affected, so the general public and all concerned bodies are requested to be alert and prepared.
