Madhesh province has been declared drought-stricken after heavy rains in places. Even though Monsoon entered Nepal on May 15th, Madhesh Province has not received any significant rainfall.

Madhesh Province cabinet meeting held on Thursday declared the province drought-affected. Home, Communications and Law Minister Rajkumar Lekhi informed Ikantipur.

Minister Lekhi said that the province was declared drought-stricken after no rain even during planting. "The farmers here are suffering after the lack of rain." It has been decided to request the union government to provide what kind of relief and service facility to the farmers . After the lack of rain, not only did they not get to plant rice, but other crops were also not planted.'

Minister Lekhi said, 'We don't have any resources . Infrastructure has the highest budget. The agriculture budget has become critical.'

In Madhesh, where more rice grows, planting has decreased. 13.6 percent planting has been done in Madhesh province, the least in the country. 376 thousand 327 hectares of rice are planted in this province. It is mentioned that till June 22, a total of 51 thousand 250 hectares have been planted.
