After Maoist Senior Vice President Narayankaji Shrestha met former President Bidya Devi Bhandari last week, there has been a ripple within the party. At a time when UML is trying to be active again in politics, after Shrestha met Bhandari, Maoist Vice President and Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota issued a statement on Monday and expressed his displeasure.
According to the Secretariat of former President Bhandari, Shrestha had a meeting at his residence last week. The central office of Maoist has also confirmed the meeting. After it came out that Shrestha had made a proposal for left unity with UML in the meeting, Sapkota denied it .

After Shrestha discussed the issue of left unity with former President Bhandari without informing the party, President Pushpa Kamal Dahal became dissatisfied. Sapkota issued a statement on the matter after consultation with Dahal. "It was not right to campaign that he met former President Bhandari and talked to UML for left unity without informing the party," said an official, "That's why the spokesperson had to issue a statement." Meeting between two leaders is normal. What is the reason to refute it by issuing a statement?, said the leader. Currently, Senior Vice President Shrestha is visiting America. He is scheduled to return home after a week.
Usually, a statement is not issued to formally disagree with the meeting between the two leaders. However, the Maoist Center's denial of the Bhandari-Shreshta meeting through a statement has indicated that the distance between President Dahal and Vice President Shrestha has increased. Chairman Dahal said that even if former President Bhandari comes into active politics, there will not be an atmosphere of left unity.

Shrestha disagreed with the two-point agreement with the ruling party on the visit visa issue on May 30. He commented that it was wrong to agree on such a serious matter without deep discussion in the party. Shrestha also publicly demanded that the agreement made without discussion within the party should be reviewed .
Even after that, Shrestha has become dissatisfied saying that President Dahal did not discuss issues such as removal of obstruction of parliament, nomination of central members within the party . The superior side has also been complaining that the former Unity Center-Masal edge has been neglected within the Maoists.
