The Revenue Investigation Department, which has the main responsibility for revenue leakage and control and is directly connected with financial transactions, has been without a leader for a week and a half.

The department is under the office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, with a director general at the joint secretary level. The post is vacant after the director general of the department, Chandi Prasad Ghimire, retired last week. Ghimire retired due to age limit. He headed the department for 10 months . Earlier, after the change of the three governments, the Director General was transferred and a new person was transferred within 3-4 months.

In the absence of the director general, everything except the daily administrative work has been stopped . "Now, there is no work except to show up," said an officer of the department.

Even though there is a right to investigate cases of revenue evasion and to conduct raids on suspicion of fraud, all work is not possible without the Director General . It was placed under the Prime Minister's Office in February 2074 to make the work of the said department effective.
