Telephone service interrupted in Humla

Telephone service has been interrupted in different settlements of three local levels of Humla. As the telephone service is not working in the settlements of various wards in Kharpunath, Sarkegad and Changkheli Rural Municipality, the consumers are in trouble.

Shanti Shahi, a local resident, said that the telephone service has been disrupted in Raya, Karanga and other settlements of ward no. According to him, the telephone service has stopped working in the morning, afternoon and evening hours in this area for more than two weeks. Since the tower located at Raya's Thana is not working, the customers here have to be deprived of communication.

In the same way, locals say that Nepal Telecom has created problems due to non-operation of Syaltadi, Rip and Unapani villages of Sarkegad rural municipality.

Vinod Fadera of Rip village said that sometimes there was sudden damage when it rained when the weather changed, but the lack of a tower to make a phone call created a problem. He says that even when he shows the tower on his mobile phone, the phone does not ring. Similarly, Gagan Aidy, who has been doing business in Sarkegad, said that the Namaste telephone service was not working in Sarkegad as well.

Changkheli rural municipality center without communication

Changkheli rural municipality center in the southern part of the district, Piplang, has been deprived of telephone service for about a month. Locals say that they have to run to the hills to make telephone calls. Not only the village center, but also in rural areas of most places, there are still problems in the network due to the tower. When the network does not work, one has to climb a high place or a tree to find the tower.

Local Basuna Tamang complains that since the phone did not work, they had to go to the rural municipality center on the assumption that there were no representatives or employees. Even though Nepal Telecom has started the construction process of the 4G tower so that the network can be accessed in the rural village center, it has created a problem due to the lack of completion.

Village chairman Parylal Shahi said that the telephone service was interrupted when there was a problem with the tower of Nepal Telecom in Melcham.

There is also the compulsion to run to the hill to talk when the telephone in the rural municipality office does not work. President Shahi says that although most of the people's complaints and problems are solved over the phone, due to the lack of communication facilities, the common people are forced to go to the village.

Chief administrative officer Deepak Giri said that even though the internet connected in the rural municipality is not reliable, the letters of the office are being exchanged by using Zenten work. Even though the rural municipality has connected a private company's wireless internet, it has not been effective because of the lack of internet, even a bank branch could not be opened in the village center for a long time.
