Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Prasad Pandey has accused government employees of not having the tendency to work with dedication.

Speaking at the International Relations and Tourism Committee meeting held on Friday, he said this while answering the questions raised by the parliamentarians during the theoretical discussion on the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Bill, 2081.

The parliamentarians raised questions about private airlines being able to run the company profitably even with less manpower, but Nepal Airlines Corporation was unable to improve and make a profit despite having more manpower. In response, Minister Pandey said that more manpower is required as the responsibility of ground handling lies with the Nepal Airlines Corporation. However, he mentioned that there is no sense of dedicated work among the government employees and said that this aspect of good governance needs to be improved.

He said, 'He also talked about Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines. Ground handling should be done by Nepal Airlines. Doing this requires a large manpower. For example, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) handled 9.5 million passengers. Nepal Airlines has to handle the ground handling of most airlines including Himalayan, not just its own. There is a difference between government and private jobs. People do not work with dedication in government jobs. The private sector seems to be working efficiently even with less manpower. This is the area of good governance, reform is necessary.'

Minister Pandey also informed that the regulations of Nepal Air Service Corporation regarding the service and conditions of the employees are being prepared. He said that the government is doing its homework on the issue of not creating more financial burden on Nepal Airlines by keeping more manpower than required.
