The government will build 200 suspension bridges in the coming year

The government has set a target of constructing 200 suspension bridges in the next financial year.

In a press conference held at the ministry on Wednesday, the Ministry of Urban Development announced plans to build 200 suspension bridges, repair 100 suspension bridges, build 40 new road bridges and repair 30 road bridges in the financial year 2082/83.

In a press conference, Ministry's Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Mainali informed that 249 irrigation projects have been completed and 3,700 hectares of land will be irrigated. He also said that 100 kilometers of roads will be constructed and 300 kilometers of roads will be paved. According to him, the government will build 60 local administrative buildings.

Similarly, the government has planned to upgrade 10 kilometers of roads in the river and river corridors of the valley, to protect public land and build parks at 26 places in the valley, and to start the development work after the approval of the physical development plan of land consolidation in Jitpur Phedi, Duku Chapa, Ishan Naya Sahar, Tathli Chalavu. Besides, it is said that priority will be given to the prevention of public land encroachment and removal of illegal structures.

For the orderly urbanization of the valley, the Ministry has also put forward a plan to promote greenery, increase public awareness, collect water from the sky, protect forests and ponds.

The government will start construction of the second phase of international standard stadium at Kirtipur Cricket Ground. Under the approved master plan of the Singha Darbar complex, the plan to start construction of new buildings of the Ministry of Urban Development and the Ministry of Youth and Sports has also been announced. It is said that the construction of housing for the Speaker and the Chief Justice will be started under the construction of housing for highly specialized officials.

Similarly, the ministry has announced that the construction of an international level exhibition hall and amusement park will be carried out at Bhrikutimandap.

The government aims to rebuild the structures damaged by the floods of 2081 in Bagmati, Bishnumati, Manohara and Nakhkhu rivers, rebuild and restore and improve the historical monasteries, temples, Pati, Pauwa, and clean up the rivers and streams in the valley.

Under the Ministry of Urban Development, the Ministry has informed that the bills and their regulations related to waste management, urban development, urban development fund, Bagmati Civilization, and slum development are under preparation.
