Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh has clarified that the budget has been allocated within the scope of 'Project Classification Standard, 2080' for the programs of the next financial year.

Speaking at the meeting of the National Assembly on Wednesday, he clarified that as per the decision of the Council of Ministers, since the Ministry of Urban Development has been given the responsibility of the Local Infrastructure Department under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, the budget has also been allocated for rural development projects.

Nepali Congress MP Narayanadatta Mishra suggested that the name of the ministry should be changed to 'Ministry of Rural Upliftment and Urban Development', saying that even in the projects of the rural areas, targeted budget has been allocated.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Singh, since programs such as rural roads have been implemented under the department since the past, it is natural to allocate budget for such programs.

He said, 'In the case of the programs to be implemented by the ministry in the coming financial year, I would like to inform you that the budget allocation has been within the scope of project classification criteria, 2080. Since the Ministry of Urban Development also allocates budget for programs related to rural areas, the Honorable has submitted a suggestion to change the name of the Ministry to Urban Development and Rural Development. Regarding, according to the decision of the Government of Nepal Council of Ministers dated 19th July 2079, the Ministry of Urban Development has been given the responsibility of the Local Infrastructure Department under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

According to him, programs related to rural areas including roads, which have been implemented since the past, are in operation under that department.

Responding to the question raised about budget allocation for 'small irrigation' programs which are different from the scope of the Ministry of Urban Development, he said, 'These programs have been implemented since the past and are yet to be completed. As those programs are currently under the Ministry of Urban Development, the budget has been allocated accordingly.'
