The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) has arrested 52 people, including six Chinese nationals, involved in illegally operating dating apps and crypto transactions.
According to the information officer of the CIB, Superintendent of Police Yuvraj Khadka, they were arrested in a simultaneous raid in Kathmandu and Lalitpur. According to Khadka, they were taken into custody after conducting a raid from Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality-4, Fire Chowk at Waliphal and Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality-13, Chagal.
Social Software Development Pvt Ltd registered a company called Social Software Development Pvt. Ltd. and operated a call center and a dating app illegally by renting a house in Chagal as the main branch, Khadka said. CIB informed that a case related to dematerialized currency has been registered and further investigation of 46 persons is underway.
Police recovered more than 1.3 lakh rupees, 7 laptops and 54 mobile phones from the arrested persons.
