Speaker of National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal has said that MPs should be responsible for their role. He also said that parliamentarians and the government should be serious about making the parliament effective.
Speaker Dahal said that after MPs raise people's problems in the parliament meeting, the ministers will respond, but they should also pay attention to issues that do not solve the problem. He said that the role of the MP should not be limited to taking the budget to the parliamentary constituencies.
Speaker Dahal said that parliamentarians should find their role in the overall affairs of the country. What is the role of the parliamentarian to make the parliament more effective? The promise we made to the people is that we will reach the right conclusion if we look for our role by asking how serious and sensitive we are to the current political situation of Nepal, how to advance the economy of the country and how sensitive we are to the livelihood of the Nepali people,' he said, 'otherwise, if our role is limited to going and speaking among the people, taking two to four million budgets to our area, we will fail as real parliamentarians.' He added, "Government needs to be serious about timely addressing the problems of the people raised by MPs in the Parliament and being accountable to the Parliament". All of us have realized that the problem has been a problem since the past when MPs raise problems in Parliament, but the relevant ministers give answers, but the implementation is slow and indifference. It is important to get everyone's attention,' he said.
President Dahal mentioned that the role of parliamentarians is important to enhance people's trust in the parliament and everyone needs to be serious.
