The Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) and the leader of the main opposition party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has expressed serious concern about the tendency of manipulation and tampering when the bills passed unanimously by the parliamentary committee are submitted to the House of Representatives.

At today's meeting of the State Order and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives, he made this comment while participating in the discussion on the bill to amend and unify the laws related to Nepal Police.

Chairman Dahal expressed his displeasure that some of the bills that had been unanimously passed by the committee were put on the agenda in the House of Representatives but were removed at the last minute and asked not to do so. He said, 'There is a tendency to remove the bills that we have worked hard to bring to the House and unanimously passed by the committee, we request that this kind of manipulation not happen.'

President Dahal drew the attention of the government and the chairman of the committee saying that important bills such as federal civil service and school education are essential for implementation. He added, 'We will not remain silent if the sensitive bills are being postponed.'

Chairman Dahal also emphasized that the police bill should be passed with timely, comprehensive discussion and maximum amendments. He said that while preparing the bill, the previous debates, opinions of stakeholders and the spirit of federalism should be taken into consideration.

'I thank the government for bringing this bill even though it was delayed. But now it is necessary to proceed with its modification and proper process,' he said. He also emphasized that all the parties should cooperate in building the legal basis to remove the confusion in the effective implementation of federalism.

Along with Chairman Dahal's warning, other parliamentarians participating in the meeting also expressed the opinion that unnecessary interference in the bills passed unanimously by the committee will not be accepted.
