International Yoga Day is being celebrated today

International Yoga Day is also being celebrated in Nepal today by organizing various programs. International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 every year.

According to the decision made by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, International Yoga Day has been celebrated since June 21, 2015. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi proposed to declare the International Day of Yoga at the 69th General Assembly of the United Nations as yoga is essential for everyone forever. The proposal was first supported by the then Prime Minister of Nepal Sushil Koirala, including the European Union. It was supported by the permanent member states of the United Nations.

Among the days announced by the association, Yoga Day has set a record of being supported by 177 countries in 90 days. International Yoga Day was celebrated worldwide on June 21 from 2016. 

Yoga Day was started to be celebrated in Nepal from January 1, 2036 on the occasion of the day when the sun sets.

World Yoga Day, which was celebrated on January 1, was celebrated on June 21. Nepalese campaigners proposed to the Council of Ministers through the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction to declare January 1 as National Yoga Day. The Government of Nepal declared January 1 as National Yoga Day on the proposal of then Peace Minister Narahari Acharya on July 28, 2072.

National Yoga Day is celebrated on January 1st and International Yoga Day on June 21st in Nepal.
