Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Nepal will produce iron and steel that will last for 100 years. During the inauguration of the Gwarco overpass on Friday, Prime Minister Oli said that the Dhowadi iron factory in Nawalparasi East will soon be put into operation.
"We are moving ahead with the Dhowadi iron factory." As soon as the Dhowadi iron factory is completed, we will establish iron, steel, etc. factories here that will reach Nepal for a hundred years . It will greatly advance the economy of the country . Therefore, the foreign currency stays in Nepal. A big annual income will come from there . Many will find employment in Nepal. Other minerals are mined, Oli said.
The experts of the Department of Mines and Geology conducted drilling in Dhowadi at different times from 2069 to 2075 and collected samples and tested it. The Ministry of Industry started the work by forming Dhowadi Falamkhani Company Limited in October 2076.
Dhowadi is an iron ore mining area . According to a study conducted by the
company, 2.7 million tons of iron products are imported annually in Nepal. A special feasibility study report has shown that 1,500 tons of iron can be produced daily from the iron mine spread over an area of 41 square kilometers in Dhowadi. If iron is produced in the country, the company estimates that a quarter of the current imports can be reduced.
