The Election Commission has consulted with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today regarding the two vacant seats in the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly, as well as the 18 seats that will be vacant in the National Assembly on the 20th of February.
The commissioners along with the Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari met Prime Minister Oli at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Sinha Darbar and discussed the matter of holding the by-elections of the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly in the second week of October and fixing the election for the 18 vacant seats in the National Assembly on the 20th of February.
Member of the House of Representatives Rupandehi area no. 3 and Manang Region of Gandaki Provincial Assembly No. The commission has prepared to set the date for the vacant members of 1 (2) in the second week of October in consultation with the Government of Nepal. Similarly, the commission informed that there are 13 vacancies of ward presidents at the local level.
Prime Minister Oli assured that the Government of Nepal would provide support for the necessary facilitation as per the preparations made by the Commission for the elections. He also suggested the commission to prepare for the upcoming periodic elections. On the occasion of the
meeting, commissioners Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and Sagunshamsher Jabara, along with senior officials of the Prime Minister's and Cabinet Offices, were also present.
