In 6 months, 163 people were 'deported' from America, the most from Dang and Rukum

It has been found that Dang and Rukum have the highest number of Nepalis who are deported from America. Since the start of the second term of Donald Trump as the US president, three districts of Dang, East Rukum and West Rukum are the most among the 163 Nepalis in 28 districts who have been 'deported' from there. The number of 'deported' is also higher in West Nepal.

According to the information obtained from the immigration and police, there are 51 people from Dang, 30 people from West Rukum and 13 people from East Rukum. Likewise, 9 from Salyan, 7 from Myagdi, 6 each from Parbat, Banke and Rolpa, 5 from Baglung and 4 from Sindhupalchok have also been deported.

Likewise, 3/3 people from Kathmandu, Jajarkot and Dolakha, 2/2 people from Kaski and Kailali and 1/1 people from Kanchanpur, Gorkha, Jumla, Jhapa, Doti, Dolpa, Dhankuta, Parsa, Makwanpur, Mustang, Morang, Sindhuli and Sunsari were also 'deported' by the US.

Most of the 'deported' have entered America through the lower route (illegal route) by paying money to organized gangs. According to officials of the Tribhuvan International Airport Immigration Office and the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police, most of the 'deportees' have been found to have reached America through gangs active in various countries including Nepal.

American President Trump, after starting his second term from January 20, 2025, took the policy of deporting illegal immigrants from various countries, including Nepal, and so far 146 men and 17 women have been deported from America. The Trump administration had 'deported' 45 people on two chartered flights and the rest from regular flights and handed them over to the Tribhuvan International Airport immigration office. On February 21, 2081, 8 people including seven men and one woman were 'deported' to Nepal by US on a chartered plane. Three months after that, on May 24, 32 men and 5 women were again brought to Nepal by a chartered plane and released.

Last time, the US official informed the Nepali authorities that 46 people would return to Omni Air International's call-sign N-486 AX chartered plane. However, only 37 people came on the plane. It is said that others on the list of 'deport' are coming gradually. According to a police officer, those detained for deportation are given the option to return to Nepal by a 'regular flight', but those who readily accept it come by regular flight, but those who fail to do so, and those who are accused of 'serious crimes' in the US, are seen using chartered planes based on their 'criminal background'.

The Human Trafficking and Investigation Bureau of the police has been interrogating those who have come back from the immigration to find out the network of gangs that send them to the United States from the lower road. After interrogation, those who were 'released with papers' have admitted that they went to America after paying the money. However, he refused to open about the gang. "However, the flow of those who paid huge sums of money to the organized gangs and reached the United States in the last time after being deported, their permanent addresses, which districts are they from?" What kind of financial situation? And, a picture of what age group of people they are using is clear,' said a police officer, 'those who have been deported are open about the fact that they went to America after paying money, but they do not want to talk about the network of the gang that sent them.'

Investigation revealed that gangs extort up to 1 million rupees from those who enter the US through the low road (donkey route). According to Bureau Chief SSP Krishna Pangeni, those who have been 'deported' only say the name of someone who will take them to America, and only someone's last name. "None of those who came back have complained that we were victims, that the person who sent us should be prosecuted. The person who sent us took us to America. There seems to be a kind of thinking about why they should be prosecuted," Pangeni said. "There was no arrest until someone said that I was a victim, but we are still investigating. It would have been much easier to reach the individuals and networks of this gang. They have been arrested and taken into custody through a campaign to return them to the respective countries. ICE has mobilized security personnel to take control of 1.4 million 45 thousand 549 people who came to America from countries including Nepal and put them on the deportation list. Among them, most of those who entered the US from Mexico, El Salvador, India, Guatemala, Honduras, and Venezuela are on the list of "deportees". After the arrival of the Trump administration, ICE has recently arrested and detained those who have received the final order for 'deportation' until November 24, 2024 but have not been arrested, and have started a campaign to return them to the respective countries.

In the first phase, undocumented immigrants who entered the US after June 24, 2015 and have been ordered to leave the US are being deported. It is estimated that there are more than 3,500 Nepalese in the list. Among them, about 2,000 Nepalese who have settled in the US under 'Temporary Protected Status' (TPS) are said to be on the list of 'deport'. About 8,000 Nepalis are currently in the US under the TPS facility. Since the start of Trump's second term (January 20, 2025), the number of returns has been gradually increasing. According to the Immigration Department, 140 Nepalis were deported from 2021 to 2024.

The United States expressed serious concern after the revelation that the "state mechanism" was used in the crime of sending Nepali citizens to the United States as fake Bhutanese refugees. America has expressed serious concern about this issue even after the authority started investigating the person including Tribhuvan International Airport Immigration Chief and Joint Secretary Tirtharaj Bhattarai for the crime of extorting money from going abroad on a visit visa. The United States has also canceled the 5-year multi-entry visa issued in the name of Joint Secretary Bhattarai and his wife Devimaya Baral (Bhattrai), who were involved in the visit visa case. The United States has included Nepal in the "Tier to Watch List" in its 2024 annual report saying that it has not taken effective measures against human trafficking and other crimes.
