Today, the eleventh Chure Conservation Day is being celebrated on the occasion of President Chure Terai Madhesh Conservation Development Committee being established. On this occasion, President Ramchandra Paudel has inaugurated the tree plantation program held at Kawasoti in Nawalpur on Monday.

The committee was established on June 2, 2071 with the goal of contributing to the reduction of poverty through conservation of natural resources, sustainable management, and promotion of ecological services. Since its establishment, the committee has so far expanded perennial crops in 1,459 places, controlled landslides, droughts, and 166 hectares of sloping agricultural land. Similarly, it has been mentioned in the committee's achievement statement that it has done green promotion program in 5 thousand 230 hectares and produced and distributed 20 million 93 lakh 49 thousand plants.

So far, 412 km of embankments have been constructed along the banks of rivers and streams, 162 hectares of green boxes have been constructed, 139 wetlands have been protected/reconstructed, 628 rainwater collection ponds have been constructed and 548 springs have been protected. Similarly, since the establishment of the committee, nearly 15 billion has been spent in the name of chure conservation. The committee has spent 14 billion 96 crores till the financial year 2080/81. According to the committee, the financial progress during this period was 88.93 percent and the physical progress was 91.84 percent. The committee will receive monthly salary benefits. There are 124 posts of employees, including officers, and currently 86 posts are filled.

The committee, which has its central office in Lalitpur, has been working by establishing program implementation units in Salakpur, Janakpur, Chitwan, Butwal and Lamki throughout the country. Chure region is spread over 37 districts and 325 local levels of seven provinces. Due to low land use, population migration, climate risk, fire, etc., the destruction of Chure is increasing in recent times.
