The district court of Kathmandu has given a short-term interim order to two online websites to remove the news published about Santosh Narayan Shrestha, Chairman of the Securities Board.
Kathmandu District Court Judge Pitambar Sharma issued a short-term interim order on Tuesday asking Nepal Khabar and Bizmandu to immediately remove the news published on Securities Board Chairman Shrestha.
Shrestha filed an injunction petition in the District Court on June 26, seeking an order to remove the news published about him.
In separate injunction petitions filed by Shrestha against Bizmandu and Nepal Khabar, the bench of Judge Sharma issued a short-term interim order asking for immediate removal.
'When it is seen from the news published on different dates attached to the petition that the news published under different titles has harmed the reputation of the petitioner, the news published in a disrespectful manner, from the point of view of imposing irreparable damage to the petitioner and the balance of convenience to the opponents, from the point of view of publishing, not broadcasting, unverified, unsubstantiated news on their website, online or through other means, the published news shall be immediately removed from online,' the judge said. news immediately, an interim order has been called to hear the opinion of the news publishing organization. Along with the petitioner, the opposition Nepal Khabar and Bizmandu have been summoned by the court on June 4 for discussion.
Nirmala Sharma, president of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, has written on social media that the order to remove the news has made it serious. The order to remove the news is serious. There is a need for adequate discussion on this,' Sharma wrote on the social network Facebook. Umid Bagchand, the vice president of the Federation of Journalists, has written that it is a matter of concern that the order to delete news has been issued many times, mentioning that the Constitution of Nepal ensures complete freedom of the press.
Federation General Secretary Ram Prasad Dahal has commented that ordering the removal of any news is against the constitution and journalistic code of conduct. He has written on the social network, 'If any court orders to delete the news published in the media, it will be an act against the constitution and journalistic code of conduct.' Ramakrishna Adhikari, the treasurer of the Federation of Journalists, said that the order of the district court has seriously attacked the spirit of freedom of the press through Facebook. The Kathmandu District Court has issued a short-term interim order to remove the news written by the journalist.
