The Ministry of Information and Communication has given the responsibility of acting managing director of Nepal Telecom to Savina Maske Pradhan. Spokesman of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Gajendra Thakur informed that after a corruption case was filed against 17 people and one company, including the managing director of Nepal Telecom, Sangita Pahadi, for corruption in the procurement of billing system, Pradhan was appointed to the vacant post.
Pradhan, who is working as the chief technical officer, also gave a statement on the issue of corruption in the procurement of the billing system. Pradhan's husband Amul Pradhan has also been suspended in this case. Amul was then working as acting director.
The Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission launched a case against the defendant in a special court on Sunday. According to Rajendra Kumar Paudel, the spokesperson of the Authority, a charge sheet has been filed with a demand to recover 988841956 rupees, which has already been fined and damages of 334 million 4817 thousand 430 rupees.
The authority demands that all of them who have been accused of being the main culprits should be sentenced to 10 to 14 years in prison.
