Sakthiram Chowdhury of Kailali is raising public service preparation expenses by earning income through 'ride sharing'. 25-year-old Chaudhary, who has entered Kathmandu after completing his diploma in agriculture, waits for passengers with a motorcycle after completing his public service preparation class in Bagbazar. He said that while he was preparing for public service, it was difficult to ask for money from home every month, so he started using Pathao.
'There is no one to earn at home, old parents cannot work . Searching for a loan and sending money every month was very difficult and started using it," he said. With the income from running Pathao, not only Shaktiram himself but also his wife is preparing for public service . Even though he does not have a job, the money left over from paying the tuition fees, copy books and room rent of the husband and wife in Kathmandu is enough to send to Baama, who is living in Bhajani municipality of Kailali.
"Even though I am studying without a job, I have been able to send money as soon as I get the time, for house rent, ration expenses, education expenses for two people, even if it is a little bit sometimes, I am happy with this now," he said. He has been earning more than 1500 rupees a day through 'ride sharing'.
He is amazed that he can earn money by riding a bike in his free time while staying in Nepal. Shakti Ram's dream is to get a government job after passing public service. He wants to struggle in his own country rather than go abroad and suffer. "My friends have gone abroad, I want to stay in Nepal and live with my family," says Shaktiram.
Chitwan resident Bhim Bahadur Gurung is earning up to 70,000 a month by doing 'ride sharing' every day from 7 am to 10 pm. He is living in Kathmandu and is earning good income by working all day. "There is no other job. Ride sharing earnings are the source of income." Even if I don't do anything else, I am very happy with the money I earn by riding my own bike,' he said. 30/40 thousand saved per month . I am satisfied that I have earned so much by staying in Nepal.' He works as a safe in a hotel from 5 am to 2 pm, and when he returns home, he quickly sits online. He says that now he is able to easily buy the goods that he said he would buy only after getting paid by 'ride sharing'. Megh says, "Earlier, when we did not run Pathao, we had to count the days to even buy simple goods. Now a lot of money is being carried with him every day.'
Megh runs Pathao from 2 pm to 10 pm. He says that when he meets people of different religions, cultures and personalities every day, he gets to understand a lot. He was safe in a hotel in Dubai for 9 years and returned home after the corona epidemic. Thinking of running Pathao in his free time, he has been carrying passengers through 'ride sharing' apps like Pathao for a year after finishing his hotel job. He feels that due to 'Ride Sharing', he has a little relief from the high cost of Kathmandu. He says, ``Ride-sharing has made it difficult to make a living with just one month's salary due to rising prices.'' He lives in Syangja Arjunchoupari, he studies college in the afternoon, and after 4 o'clock, he does 'ride sharing'. He says that he has started using 'ride sharing' to ask some families for the money he needs.
Nilakanth says, 'I have grown up and now I started sending my parents who live in the village to ask if they don't have money to go out to lunch with their friends.' Nilakanth is also fulfilling his simple needs through 'ride sharing'. So he is very happy . He has been raising his own expenses along with room rent by doing 'ride sharing' for the last 2 years . He also says that he has invested a lot of the money he has collected in shares.
Goji is never empty and because it is difficult to call home and send money even for a small amount of money, Nilakanth, who started 'ride sharing', is satisfied that he will earn from it. "There is no pressure from anyone, you can use your own means, you don't have to wait for months to get money, it's bliss," says Nilakantha.
Sindhupalchok resident Ved Tamang was 30 years old. He has been living in Kathmandu for a year and has been running 'ride sharing' after quitting his job. Ved says that he quit his job and started 'Indrive' because he did not get the salary facility as he had done by taking other people's jobs and it has cost him a lot. He says, "In the job, there is no salary as mentioned, nor facilities as mentioned". That's why I have covered my expenses even though I don't earn much by driving InDrive.' He is making money from room rent to ration expenses in Kathmandu by 'ride sharing'. Ved is happy that he does not have a job because of 'ride sharing', but he does not have to be unemployed.
Shanti Magar has been running Pathao for a year. After her husband passed away due to corona and jaundice, she wandered to many places for work. Although many of them promised to give jobs, they did not give jobs because their children were young. After not being able to raise her two children's education and other expenses, she started 'ride sharing' with her own scooter. Now she is earning by 'ride sharing' when she gets time . Shanti is happy that she is able to earn money by driving her own scooter. She says, "I used to drive my own scooter whenever I could." The lender himself is the driver. You don't have to work under anyone's pressure and you get money every day in your own way.'
Shanti takes her children to school in the morning and from there she stays online in Pathao. She is earning income by running Pathao till she goes to take them to school. She says that she is very happy that 'ride sharing' has opened the way for her to earn income. Money comes every day by driving your vehicle (scooter). Otherwise, I can't even imagine how I would have been able to live in the expensive city of Kathmandu with children.'
