General Secretary of Revolutionary Maoist Mohan Vaidya's health condition is stable. According to family sources, Vaidya, who was admitted to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital since May 15 due to chest problems, is in stable condition.
He is being treated in the ICU of the teaching hospital. He was admitted after developing asthma and developed pneumonia. "Pneumonia is being treated mainly," a family member said, "Meetings have been stopped except for family members and some limited people."
According to that member, the doctor has suggested to keep Vaidya in the ICU for a few more days. Dr. Niraj Bam's team is treating him. The member said that the family and the party are collecting the expenses for the treatment.
After Vaidya fell ill, the leaders and activists of his party and Maoist center wished for improvement of his health by portraying him as an "honest leader" through social media.
Another Maoist was formed under the leadership of Vaidya after separating from Maoist in 2069. Vaidya, who is taking the policy of 'people's revolt', was unanimously elected as the general secretary from the convention held last November. After he fell ill, CP Gajurel has been managing the party as acting general secretary.
